setelah sekian lama x update blog, skrg nak mula balik bcerita. baru2 nih kami baru shj abes conference, BAKTI-MIND CONFERENCE 2010 dr 15-20 october. letih gak la nak prepare utk conference ni, dan btambah letih lg sbb sy juga mrupakan speaker dan wshop instructor.

skrg sy sedar, dah 5thn sy jadi volunteer di projek BAKTI-MIND. bagus la ramai bminat jd volunteer, seronok tgk pserta2 conference mdaftar sbgai volunteer baru. kita kene melatih org baru, utk ganti atau bsama org2 yg dah lama.

tadi aku g la conference ni utk masuk session pasal special education. bberapa panelist mention peranan occupational therapist yg bkerja bsama2 cikgu di sekolah. panelist dr UK plak bgtau…. kat UK semua sekolah ada coordinator utk children with special needs, tp knp di malaysia ni xder ek??

2nd Malaysian Conference on Rehabilitation

Tarikh: 7-9 November 2008
Tempat: PLPP Bangi

Setiap 2 tahun, Malaysian Council for Rehabilitation (MCR) akan anjurkan conference. Tahun ni conference berlangsung selama 3 hari, tajuk pon menarik untuk dibincangkan. Akta OKU juga banyak dibincangkan memandangkan akta ini baru sahaja diluluskan di parlimen pada tahun lepas, jadi sekarang memang masa yang sesuai untuk membincangkan implementasi akta ini.

Education, Employment, Universal Access dan Assistive Technology diberi penekanan. Macam biasa untuk sesi yang berkaitan Assistive Technology, aku juga dijemput sebagai salah seorang speaker. Conference kali ini juga sangat betuah kerana telah dirasmikan oleh Dato’ Dr Ng Yen Yen, Menteri Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat. Aku juga sangat bertuah dapat demonstrate penggunaan Assistive Technology dalam majlis perasmian tersebut.

I will be going to Washington DC, USA

I will be leaving Malaysia tomorrow, 24th June to Washington DC for a certification programme in Assistive Tech by RESNA. I will sit for the credentialing exam on 1st July to be qualified internationally as an Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP). I will be coming back on 5th July.

Persons with Disabilities Act 2007

After a month the disability bill had been tabled at the Parliament, there are still a lot of peoples asked me about the latest updates and what was happened during that day (18 December 2007). For your information, the disability bill passed in parliament (lower house) and now awaiting to become part of Malaysian Acts. I attached 2 documents below for your references:

Update:

The Persons With Disabilities Act 2008 will come into operation on the 7th July 2008. Read the act here.
